Charmaine Chanakira

Charmaine's work explores the relationship between Jungian archetypes and the black, African-Zimbabwean experience. With influences as diverse as Katsushika Hokusai and Kojo Marfo, her art is a synergy of the unconscious mind and the tumultuous rollercoaster of existence. Since starting her training as an art therapist, Charmaine has been fascinated with the theoretical limits of the universe.  Each time she paints or draws, she recreates a part of herself, an abstract portrait of her soul. Charmaine is a spiritual hippy who can unlock different aspects of ourselves that we cannot see in our conscious life. She likes to create artwork, that keeps the observer’s attention, she wants them to discover the subtle features that may lie beneath the surface.
