US Capitol Unity by Joe Harris

Joe Harris' US Capitol Unity is one of the many photos Harris captured during the the 90s. Harris used his camera to document the pressing issues facing New York City, from the war on drugs and police brutality to rising crime, driven by a deep desire to shed light on the struggles and injustices shaping urban life. 

For Harris, photography wasn’t just about capturing images, it was about telling stories, amplifying overlooked voices. His work appeared in newspapers across the city. On October 16, 1996, he focused his lens on the Million Man March in Washington, D.C., one of history's most iconic gatherings. His photographs reflect the spirit, pride, and collective determination of the movement.
