Ralph Yznaga's Iconic New York City Series honors the enduring beauty and history of iconic urban architecture by creating original, hand-made impressions taken directly from historic bronze plaques embedded in the streets of New York City. His work memorializes some of the city’s most storied buildings.

Created on large-format sheets of ultra-thin Thai paper using graphite and paint, these tactile impressions reconnect viewers to the architectural legacy and craftsmanship that define great cities. Working directly in the street, Yznaga engages in a physical dialogue with the urban landscape, reinterpreting historic plaques by capturing their textures, design flourishes and uniqueness. The result is a translation of overlooked architectural markers into intimate, tactile works on paper that feel both archival and contemporary.

Yznaga’s work preserves urban history while reimagining it through a contemporary fine-art lens. His art celebrates cities for their stories, culture, places, and design.
